Garmin Colorado 400 series discontinued

March 5th, 2010 admin

Earlier this week, Garmin moved the Colorado 400 series to their discontinued list . The Colorado was the first high-resolution handheld introduced by Garmin, but it was quickly followed by the touch-screen Oregon, where it seems most of Garmin’s development efforts were focused. The Colorado series never did get some of the features found on the Oregon and has since languished in the marketplace. I hesitated posting this for a few days, waiting to see if the Colorado 300 would meet the same fate, but it looks like Garmin sees a spot for the 300 in the marketplace as a low-end, hi-res unit. The Garmin Colorado 400 series was discontinued by Garmin recently and I am sad to see it go. While that means there will be plenty of deals on it in the coming weeks to months, it was and for me, remains a strong reliable GPS with advanced features that made the upgrade from an eTrex obvious and painless. The first to include a set of features that...

Garmin Oregon 550’s getting a new screen?
When the Oregon 450 came out, I was surprised that the visibility was significantly better than the flagship (albeit older) 550 series. I found that odd, and it now appears that Garmin is remedying the situation, with newer Oregon 550 series production runs receiving the 450’s improved screen. At least that’s the sense I’ve been getting,...

Garmin nuvi 3700 series learns your preferred routes
I started seeing reports recently that the Garmin nuvi 3700 series will learn your preferred route, once you have deviated from a suggested route several times. I’m a bit surprised that Garmin didn’t hype this aspect of their myTrends feature, but they seem to take a low key approach and not highlight some features (like the fact that your...
