Peg’s Posts: New Garmin desktop wallpapers

February 9th, 2010 admin

Wish you were there? If you’re stuck inside cursing the snow, wind, groundhogs and anything else keeping spring at bay, improve your outlook with the latest Garmin desktop wallpapers . Download the Team Garmin set and show your argyle pride as they compete this week in the Tour of Qatar. I’m going with the beachside running shots in hopes I can teleport myself or otherwise soothe the agony of marathon training through a Midwest winter. My training plan calls for 10 miles today. It’s 9 degrees here. Minus 5 with wind chill. Do I scratch, suck it up, or suffer through a treadmill run? We’ll see how motivated I feel later in the day, when the forecast promises a small window of sun and a temp…

Peg’s Posts: The setbacks and pitfalls of training
As Jake and I both near the “heavy load” weeks of marathon training, we occasionally trade stories of training trials and tribulations. Once in awhile there’s a triumph, but sometimes the good stories are as simple as “I made it 12 miles before my knee totally locked up” or “I logged a 50-mile week and only had to ice my foot twice a day!”...
Peg’s Posts: Ready to Rock the Parkway
My last excellent adventure with Jake involved mud, ruts and a few mutts. Tomorrow, we’ll be dodging raindrops and logging lots of miles for a good cause and a good time. We’ll be joining about 4,000 runners who are ready to bust out after a waaay too long winter for Rock the Parkway . This inaugural race benefits one of our favorite charities...
Peg and Jake (and Ryan) Rock the Parkway and brave the weather
With their marathon training wrapping up, Peg (Boston on April 19) and Jake (Olathe this Saturday, hoping to qualify for Boston 2011) were able to combine a long training run with the excitement of a local race’s debut. Here’s their recap: JAKE: It’s no secret that I’m a social runner. So when Peg and I realized that Kansas City’s inaugural...
Peg’s Posts: A day with Deena
Garmin associates had a chance to meet an elite this week when Deena Kastor , American marathon record-holder and bronze medalist, made a visit to our Olathe headquarters. Deena has been training with Garmin fitness devices for a couple of years, most recently becoming fast friends with our sleek little FR60 fitness watch . In fact, she was sporting...

Garmin-sponsored triathlete Jenna Shoemaker shares her training and racing experiences with the new Edge 500 bike computer and Garmin Connect. Caddy Confidential: Approach G5 and G3 put through the paces
While Garmin bloggers Jake and Peg were testing out the new Forerunner 110 in a distinctly Greek sounding activity known commonly as a ” half-marathon ,” your humble caddy was teeing up the first round of golf for the 2010 season. Despite a weather forecast predicting a very Canadian-like day in the mid-forties with rain, yours truly packed...
Peg’s Posts: ElliptiGO ride with Coach Jenny Hadfield
I’m always up for trying something new when it comes to fitness. So when I heard Coach Jenny Hadfield talk about ElliptiGO , an outdoor elliptical bike, I couldn’t wait to give it a whirl. The concept is brilliant — a device that replicates running, at a similar exertion level, but without impact. And, the best part, you’re not in a stale-air,...
Peg’s Posts: Data, any way you like it
The question I get asked the most by friends and acquaintances goes something like this: my Forerunner shows heart rate data in little tiny numbers. How do I get it bigger? Or: I only see time, distance and pace — how do I show calories? Since we’re all about options, most Garmin fitness devices let you customize multiple training screens with...
Peg’s Posts: With Forerunner 110 on-hand, I’m Boston-bound!
Pending any unfortunate trips down the stairs or other trauma, I’m boarding a red-eye flight to Boston tomorrow with my running partners and a mutual running friend. We’ll literally hit the ground running to pick up our race packets and make some key stops at the Boston Marathon expo. Of course, we’ll head to the Garmin booth to visit the...
